October's Tip: Cozying Up for Fall!
This month we're inspired by an old song 'Those autumn leaves drift by my window - those autumn leaves are red and gold". What a great colour scheme to warm up the nest for fall!
We’re all starting to feel the chill in the air and a favourite season for many is just around the corner. It’s the time to bundle up for outdoors and cozy up for indoors.
Create a warmhearted feeling starting at your front door with a hand painted welcome mat in burnt orange and black plaid. Hang a handcrafted harvest wreath decorated with dried vines, twigs, moss, cinnamon sticks, dried berries and a little red breasted robin.
Position large baskets painted in rich hues of brown and gold filled with wooden logs and pinecones by the fire for a lovely ambiance. No fireplace? Use candles scented with autumn fragrances in colours of dark gold, red and orange.
Warm and fuzzy woolen throws over a comfy chair or couch with luxurious cushions in orange and golden tones will make you want to curl up with a good novel (or take a nap!).
Bring the beautiful natural colours of autumn into your home by collecting large fall leaves and filling a vase with them. Make sure to press the outside leaves flat against the inside of the glass so you can see them. This vase will make a great centerpiece for your table. Another option is to lay them flat to dry and then spray paint them with varnish and decoupage your kitchen place mats.
The colours of autumn are both inspirational and calming. Take pleasure in what they bring to you. Sip a large hot chocolate in a nice big pumpkin coloured mug or just get out those favorite walking shoes and enjoy!!! |
