Mini Rollers: Small Size - BIG results!

When painting a room, colour choice is important, but the right tools are what really give your work the professional look you're after.

A mini roller is a tool that do-it-yourself painters and decorators shouldn't be without. These small paint rollers come in various shapes and sizes and for some jobs are easier and faster to use than a paintbrush - and give you a nicer finish! For example, with a mini roller, you can easily and quickly paint trim, cupboards, doors and hard-to-reach areas.

Dynamic has a tremendous selection of mini rollers. For example, choose a Dynamic Mini Micro Fibre Roller for those projects where you need to be making the best use of your time. The Micro Fibres maximize absorption and paint retention, so you need to reload them with paint less frequently and you are able to roll out more area with each load - a great feature for a quick job on doors, cupboards, and window frames. Or, choose a Mini Mohair Roller, which is not only suited to most latex and oil based enamels but perfect for applying alkyd varnishes, urethanes and melamine finishes that look like they were sprayed on at the factory.

Mini rollers are great for craft projects, too - you can use more than one at a time so that you can easily switch from one colour to another. They're also great for "quick fixes" - easy to use, a snap to clean and very easy to control.

As with full-size rollers, you need to choose the right mini roller for the surface you intend to paint. Choose a roller with a short nap (the nap is the thickness of the roller's surface fibres), or a foam roller for smooth surfaces. Longer-nap rollers are best for rougher surfaces because their longer, softer fibres can get into small nooks and crevices. And, when applying gloss or semi-gloss paint, short nap rollers tend to create less "bubbling" and result in a smoother finish.

A good quality roller helps you to apply paint more evenly and makes the job easier. You can test the quality of a roller by squeezing it - a good quality roller will quickly return to its original shape. Make sure the roller is seamless so as not to leave streaks on your painted surface. Follow these guidelines and at the end of your project, you'll appreciate the difference the right paint and the right tools really make!
